Volleyball Recap: Desert Vista Thunder vs. Sunnyslope Vikings
Desert Vista was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sunnyslope Vikings. The Thunder were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2022.
While Desert Vista had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 19 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 20-25, 25-19, 25-21.
Desert Vista's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Toren Bogart, who had 27 assists and three digs. Preston Worthen also deserves some recognition as he had his first digs of the season.
Desert Vista's defeat dropped their record down to 13-19. As for Sunnyslope, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 10-5.
Coming up, Desert Vista will host O'Connor at 5:30 p.m. on the 24th. As for Sunnyslope, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-2 victory against Basha on the 16th.
