Softball Recap: St. Anthony's Takes Down Sacred Heart Academy in a Playoff Battle

St. Anthony had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They never let the Sacred Heart Academy Spartans get on the board and left with a 20-0 win on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Friars, who have now won ten games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Nina Vandernoth was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Sarah Bielski was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, two runs, and one double. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Sophia Lee was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and three runs.

St. Anthony's hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 12 consecutive matchups.

St. Anthony's victory bumped their record up to 18-3. As for Sacred Heart Academy, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

As of now, neither St. Anthony's nor the Spartans have any future games scheduled.
