Softball Recap: Big Sandy Comes Up Short

Big Sandy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 11-7 to the Martins Mill Mustangs. That's two games in a row now that the Wildcats have lost by exactly four runs.

Journie Plunkett was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Maddie Freeman was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Big Sandy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Martins Mill, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Big Sandy Wildcats duke it out with Fruitvale Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Martins Mill, they will square off against Alba-Golden at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
