Basketball Game Preview: Rogers Pirates vs. Deer Park Stags

Rogers is 0-5 against Deer Park since December of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Rogers Pirates will square off against the Deer Park Stags at 5:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Rogers is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Pullman, posting a 71-21 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Meanwhile, Deer Park put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed past North Central to the tune of 68-19. Given the Stags' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while the Wolfpack are ranked 237th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Deer Park pushed their record up to 19-0 with the win, which was their 19th straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.4 points over those games. As for Rogers, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-16.

Rogers was dealt a bruising 84-17 loss at the hands of Deer Park when the teams last played back in January. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Rogers was down 49-5.
