Softball Recap: Crete Cardinals vs. Fillmore Central/Exeter-Milligan
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Crete). They never let Fillmore Central/Exeter-Milligan onto the board and left with a 15-0 win on Tuesday. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by eight runs or more this season.
Madynn Dunham made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive pitching appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Makesha Smith was incredible, going 3-for-3 with five RBI, two doubles, and a triple. Kacey Dunaway was another key player, scoring three runs while going 1-for-1.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Crete always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Crete has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. As for Fillmore Central/Exeter-Milligan, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.
