Basketball Game Preview: Nazareth Academy Roadrunners vs. Kankakee Kays

The Nazareth Academy Roadrunners will face off against the Kankakee Kays at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Nazareth Academy is coming into the contest hot, having won their last 18 games.

On Saturday, Nazareth Academy didn't have too much trouble with Marist as they won 72-58. Given the Roadrunners' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the RedHawks are ranked 38th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Kankakee over Crete-Monee in every quarter on their way to victory on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Kankakee blew Crete-Monee out of the water with a 49-15 final score. The Kays have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 20 points or more this season.

Nazareth Academy's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 26-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.2 points over those games. As for Kankakee, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-11 record this season.

Nazareth Academy took their victory against Kankakee when the teams last played back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 61-39. In that contest, Nazareth Academy amassed a halftime lead of 32-12, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Monday.
