Recap: Sapulpa Chieftains vs. Edison Eagles
The Sapulpa Chieftains scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Edison 78-28 at home. That 78-28 margin sets a new team best for Sapulpa this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sapulpa to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tyla Heard, who scored 13 points along with eight assists and four steals. The matchup was Heard's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nylia Reid, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Sapulpa pushed their record up to 8-3 with that win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.7 points per game. As for Edison, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
Sapulpa won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Fort Gibson on January 5th. Fort Gibson will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. Edison won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Tuttle on January 5th. Tuttle presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Edison in Oklahoma (Tuttle is ranked 27th, while Edison is ranked 345th).
