Volleyball Recap: Lawrence Free State Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Lawrence Free State was the 2-0 winner over Gardner-Edgerton when they last played one another back in August, but their luck changed this time around. The Firebirds took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trailblazers on Thursday. The Firebirds have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Lawrence Free State started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 26-24, 25-13, 25-19.

Anniston Clark paced Lawrence Free State's offense, picking up 16 kills. Clark got some help from Tesssa Nover-Estes and her 35 assists. Brinley Whitney controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Leading Gardner-Edgerton to victory were Bella Garcia and Player #1. Garcia had 13 digs and two aces, while Player #1 had 18 digs. Those 13 digs gave Garcia a new career-high.

Lawrence Free State's loss dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Gardner-Edgerton, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-8.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Trailblazers beat Lawrence Free State by a score of 2-0 on Saturday.
