            Softball Preview: Hackberry Mustangs vs. Oberlin Tigers        
        
		
        
        
            The Hackberry Mustangs will challenge the Oberlin Tigers at 4:00  p.m.  on Monday. Hackberry has given up an average of 11.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
While Hackberry's  win against South Cameron wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Hackberry sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with  a  19-17  victory over South Cameron  on Thursday. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Tarpons recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive  win against them.

 Calli Trahan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned  (and 13 unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  tossed less than six  strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
 On the hitting side, Hackberry got a  massive  performance out of  Aubre Mire, who  fired off three  triples, four  runs,  and four  RBI while going 3-for-5. That's the most  runs  Mire has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was  Harmony Bodie, who  scored four  runs and  stole  Three bases. while going 3-for-6.
 Hackberry was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a  batting average of .385 or higher in three consecutive  games.
 Meanwhile, Oberlin fell victim to Merryville and their airtight pitching crew  on Thursday. They came up short against  the Panthers, falling  15-0. The  defeat   continues a  trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost three in a row.
 Oberlin's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Hackberry, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.
