Preview: North Woods grizzlies vs. Marshall Hilltoppers
North Woods has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Marshall Hilltoppers at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. North Woods has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,109 points over their last 13 games.
North Woods pushed their score all the way to 57 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a serious blow against Cherry, falling 99-57. While losing is never fun, North Woods can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 185th, while Cherry is ranked 16th).
Meanwhile, even though Pine City scored an imposing 67 points on Tuesday, Marshall still came out on top. Marshall took their matchup against Pine City 79-67. Winning may never get old, but Marshall sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
North Woods' defeat dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Marshall, their win bumped their record up to 8-6.
North Woods strolled past Marshall in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 by a score of 92-77. The rematch might be a little tougher for North Woods since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
