Basketball Recap: Adie Sykes' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Carterville over Massac County

Carterville was the 54-40 winner over Massac County when they last played one another last Saturday, but their luck changed this time around. The Carterville Lions took a 43-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Massac County Patriots on Tuesday. The Lions just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Adie Sykes, who posted 12 points. That's the most points Sykes has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lyla Seaman, who put up three points in addition to six assists and three steals.

Carterville's defeat dropped their record down to 8-18. As for Massac County, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-15.

Carterville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 51-37 win against Murphysboro on the 6th. Massac County has also already played their next match (against Ballard Memorial), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
