Softball Recap: Houston Comes Up Short

Houston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 6-1 to the Starkville Yellowjackets. The Hilltoppers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Yellowjackets earlier this season, when they won 12-9.

Houston saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kendall Burt, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Houston's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Starkville, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Houston will venture away from home to square off against West Union at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Starkville, they will square off against West Point at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Starkville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
