Basketball Recap: Vina Red Devils vs. Berry Wildcats
Vina was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They fell 45-35 to the Berry Wildcats. The Red Devils were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wildcats earlier this season, when they won 49-33.

Despite the loss, Vina had strong showings from Lana Bell, who posted 11 points, and Layla Hester, who put up six points in addition to five assists and four steals. Hester has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 32 times she's played.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Berry to victory, but perhaps none more so than Maggie Mauldin, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 16 boards. Another player making a difference was Kryssa Fields, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds.
Vina's defeat dropped their record down to 4-19. As for Berry, with the win, they broke their eight-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-8.
Vina will head out on the road to challenge Cherokee at 6:00 p.m. on January 20th. Berry has already played their next game, a 35-27 victory against Oak Grove on the 14th.
