Baseball Recap: Community Charter Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Triumph Charter, Community Charter was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Valley Oaks CES Wildcats, sneaking past 8-7. That's more bragging rights for the Titans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Gael Ledesma tossed a big game, striking out 11 batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Erick Trujillo, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Community Charter's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Julian De Haro was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one double.

The victory got Community Charter back to even at 3-3. As for Valley Oaks CES, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

Looking ahead, Community Charter will be playing at home against Bert Corona Charter at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17.8 runs per game on average), something the Titans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Valley Oaks CES, they will venture away from home to face off against Sun Valley Magnet at 3:00 p.m. on Monday.
