Recap: Hoover Cardinals vs. Vincent Memorial Scots
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Hoover Cardinals can now relate to. They suffered a tough 47-21 loss at the hands of Vincent Memorial on Friday. The match was a 14-14 toss-up at halftime, but Hoover was blown out by Vincent Memorial in the second.
Vincent Memorial's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jacobo Elias led the charge by throwing for 285 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 108 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries. Joel Cervantes was another key contributor, rushing for 125 yards and two touchdowns.
Hoover's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Vincent Memorial, they pushed their record up to 9-3 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
Hoover does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Vincent Memorial will square off against Sweetwater at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Sweetwater is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
