Preview: La Plata Warriors vs. Patuxent Panthers
Having just played yesterday, the La Plata Warriors will jump right back in to play the Patuxent Panthers at 10:30 a.m. on Friday. La Plata is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
Even though La Plata has not done well against Calvert recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. La Plata managed a 40-36 win over Calvert.
La Plata found their leader in underclassman Aniyah Sisco, who scored 32 points. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Sisco has scored at least 25% of La Plata's points. Another player making a difference was Taylor Parker, who scored six points.
Meanwhile, Patuxent was able to grind out a solid win over Northwestern on Thursday, taking the game 32-20. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Patuxent has managed all season.
La Plata's win bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Patuxent, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 3-5 record this season.
La Plata came up short against Patuxent when the teams last played last Wednesday, falling 46-39. Can La Plata avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
