Baseball Recap: Lutheran's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Lutheran entered their tilt with Rockford Christian on Monday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Royal Lions. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-7 on Thursday.

Jaxson Schwaneneck looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jake Guse was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Bryce Taylor, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Lutheran pushed their record up to 10-7 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Rockford Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.

Lutheran will face off against Winnebago at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Indians have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.82 runs per game on average), something the Crusaders will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Rockford Christian, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Genoa-Kingston at 4:30 p.m.
