Basketball Game Preview: South Columbus Stallions vs. Pender Patriots

South Columbus and Pender are an even 4-4 against one another since January of 2022, but not for long. The South Columbus Stallions will venture away from home to square off against the Pender Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

On January 9th, South Columbus was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 61-57 to Heide Trask. The Stallions haven't had much luck with the Titans recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Pender's strategy against East Columbus on Monday. Pender blew past East Columbus 53-27. The matchup marked the Patriots' most dominant win of the season.

South Columbus better focus on containing Ryan Howell and Malcolm Driver as the pair were huge in Pender's win. Howell dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds, while Driver posted 19 points and eight boards. The dominant performance also gave Howell a new career-high in assists (five). Another player making a difference was Arthur Hester, who scored two points along with five assists, five rebounds, and three steals.

Pender was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Pender and bumps their season record up to 4-7. As for South Columbus, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.

South Columbus was able to grind out a solid win over Pender in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, winning 58-47. Does South Columbus have another victory up their sleeve, or will Pender turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
