Softball Recap: Truckee Comes Up Short

After flying high against Wooster last Wednesday, Truckee came back down to earth. Truckee lost 19-6 to the South Tahoe Vikings on Saturday. The Wolverines haven't had much luck with the Vikings recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Jessie Borzello was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Azul Caratachea also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Even though they lost, Truckee was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.

Truckee's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for South Tahoe, their victory ended an eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-11.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: South Tahoe beat Truckee by a score of 22-14 later that day.
