Basketball Game Preview: Wheatland-Grinnell Thunderhawks vs. Golden Plains Bulldogs

The Wheatland-Grinnell Thunderhawks will venture away from home to square off against the Golden Plains Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Wheatland-Grinnell has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Wheatland-Grinnell is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They walked away with a 61-54 win over St. Francis on Tuesday.

Wheatland-Grinnell got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Riley Tuttle out in front who went 9 for 17 on his way to 22 points and three steals. Those 22 points gave Tuttle a new career-high. Daniel Mason was another key player, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Wheatland-Grinnell smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Golden Plains entered their tilt with St. Francis on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Indians by a score of 47-40.

Wheatland-Grinnell's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Golden Plains, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-2.

Wheatland-Grinnell might still be hurting after the 58-38 loss they got from Golden Plains in their previous matchup back in February. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Golden Plains' Dylan Wark, who almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine rebounds. Now that Wheatland-Grinnell knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
