Football Preview: Nacogdoches Dragons vs. Mt. Pleasant Tigers
The Nacogdoches Dragons will square off against the Mt. Pleasant Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Nacogdoches is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 30.4 points per game this season.
Nacogdoches is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Marshall just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Friday. They lost to the Mavericks on the road by a 42-28 margin. Despite 115 more yards than the Mavericks, the Dragons couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Micah Lockett, who picked up 161 receiving yards and one touchdown. His receiving production has been exceptional as that marked his seventh straight game with at least 100 receiving yards. Another rusher making a difference was Trae Page, who gained 105 total yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mt. Pleasant). They blew past Jacksonville, posting a 53-3 win. The Tigers have beaten the Fightin' Indians the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Fightin' Indians has come to flipping the script.
The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-6. As for Nacogdoches, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-2.
