Softball Recap: Fargo South Comes Up Short

Fargo South extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to nine on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-7 in the process. They lost 15-0 to the Red River Roughriders. If the Bruins were looking for revenge after losing 21-0 to the Roughriders when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Red River, their record now sits at 4-6-1. That 15 run margin sets a new team best for them this season.

For Red River's part, Jocelyn Berg was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Berg has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.

Coming up, Fargo South will take on Fargo North at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Red River, they will challenge Valley City at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Hi-Liners have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.4 runs per game on average), something the Roughriders will no doubt try to take advantage of.
