Softball Recap: Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley Comes Up Short

Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Deer Creek-Mackinaw on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Chiefs by a score of 4-3. The Falcons' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it five in a row.

Mallory Rosendahl put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over eight innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Rosendahl wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Taylor Beck, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Deer Creek-Mackinaw, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-4.
