Recap: Jimtown Jimmies vs. Elkhart Christian Academy Eagles
There's no place like home for the Jimtown Jimmies, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They escaped with a win on Tuesday against Elkhart Christian Academy by the margin of a single free throw, 57-56. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Jimtown's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jackson Clopton, who scored eight points along with six assists and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Fey, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and two steals.
When it comes to explaining why Elkhart Christian Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Aiden Hibbard. Despite the final result, he scored 32 points along with six assists and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hibbard has scored all season. Another player making a difference was LJ Bevier, who scored seven points along with four steals.
Jimtown's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-8. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.6 points per game. As for Elkhart Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jimtown will take on the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Indiana (South Bend Adams is ranked 202nd, while the Jimmies are ranked 194th). As for Elkhart Christian Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Bruins at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Bethany Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine last Monday.
