Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering's game two weeks ago was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They blew past the Booker T. Washington Warriors 21-1. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Phoenix considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
Tommy Downey made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Downey was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2.
In other pitching news, Courtney Edwards looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero).
