Soccer Game Preview: Golden Gate vs. East Lee County

The Golden Gate Titans will challenge the East Lee County Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams each escaped with close wins against their previous opponents.

Golden Gate's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past South Fort Myers 1-0. Given the Titans' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 94th, while the Wolfpack are ranked 281st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Golden Gate's one-goal win came courtesy of Raul Resendiz, who's now up to nine this season.

Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, East Lee County rose to the challenge on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Raiders.

East Lee County has also been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7-1 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those four matchups. As for Golden Gate, their win bumped their record up to 10-2-5.
