Football Recap: San Augustine's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

San Augustine extended their winning streak to four on Friday, bumping them up to 5-2. They took down the Garrison Bulldogs 31-15. The Wolves pushed the score to 28-7 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bulldogs cut but never quite recovered from.

A big part of San Augustine's victory came down to the chemistry between Max Renfro and his top target Ti'Javian Burrell. Renfro threw for 314 yards and four TDs while picking up 12.1 yards per attempt while Burrell picked up 171 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Burrell got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 86 yards.

As for Garrison, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3. Bulldogs fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against San Augustine since Friday.

Despite the loss, Garrison still got an impressive performance from Avery Yarbrough, who rushed for 162 yards and one score. Yarbrough's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 162 rushing yards.

Looking ahead, San Augustine will be playing at home against Shelbyville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Garrison, they will challenge Hemphill at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will be up against the Hornets' rather soft defense (which has allowed 42.57 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
