For the first time this season, Nixon will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Palmview Lobos at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Nixon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 69.6 points per game this season.

Nixon is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Alexander just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 54-52. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 364th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 73rd).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was AJ Palacios, who shot 86% from the field to rack up 16 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Dante Escobar, who went 5-for-8 en route to 12 points.

Meanwhile, Palmview came up short against Ray on Thursday and fell 67-54.

Palmview's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Nixon, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 10-8.

Nixon beat Palmview 68-56 when the teams last played back in January. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Lobos have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
