Baseball Preview: Rush-Henrietta Royal Comets vs. Brockport Blue Devils

The Rush-Henrietta Royal Comets will head out on the road to take on the Brockport Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Rush-Henrietta has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Rush-Henrietta will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating Penfield, who they hadn't topped in nine consecutive meetings. Rush-Henrietta sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over Penfield on Wednesday. Rush-Henrietta's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Rush-Henrietta got a great performance from Quentin Grimes as he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and only one walk).

At the plate, Oliver Wright and Noah Sherman did most of the damage at the plate: Wright scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Sherman went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and two RBI. Sherman is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now stolen at least one in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brendan Mangone, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, Brockport came up short against Honeoye Falls-Lima on Friday and fell 10-5.

Rush-Henrietta's victory bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Brockport, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.
