The Omaha Northwest Huskies will take on the Papillion-LaVista South Titans at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Omaha Northwest barely beat Tekamah-Herman the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Omaha Northwest was the clear victor by a 15-7 margin over Tekamah-Herman on Monday. The Huskies not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 9, 2024.
Will Krebbs made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Krebbs was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, George Upah was excellent, scoring three runs while going 1-for-3. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Daniel Wescott was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.
Meanwhile, Papillion-LaVista South put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Kearney by a score of 9-4.
Brady Palmer looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Emmett Minderman, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Cameron Curtis, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.
Papillion-LaVista South was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kearney only posted a batting average of .185.
Papillion-LaVista South pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 8.0 runs this season. As for Omaha Northwest, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Omaha Northwest suffered a grim 13-0 defeat to Papillion-LaVista South in their previous matchup back in March of 2022. Can Omaha Northwest avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
