Basketball Game Preview: Ledyard Colonels vs. Fitch Falcons

The Ledyard Colonels will square off against the Fitch Falcons at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Fitch took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Ledyard, who comes in off a win.

Ledyard is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Lyman Memorial, posting a 77-40 win. The Colonels have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Fitch came up short against Hamden on Wednesday and fell 51-44. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Fitch saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Synaa Waters posted 15 points in addition to six boards and five assists. Another player making a difference was Ada Ellis, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 13 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Fitch smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.

Ledyard pushed their record up to 13-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 24.5 points. As for Fitch, their loss dropped their record down to 10-10.

Ledyard beat Fitch 54-46 when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Will Ledyard repeat their success, or does Fitch have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
