St. Pius X faced Valencia in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Sartans walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Jaguars. Winning may never get old, but the Sartans sure are getting used to it with their 13th in a row.
The final score came out to 25-18, 22-25, 25-9, 25-10.
Leading St. Pius X to victory were Ava Robertson and Grace Grady. Robertson had 14 assists and 11 digs, while Grady had 12 assists and six digs. That's the most digs Grady has posted since back in September. Aliyah Lucero also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.
When it comes to explaining why Valencia lost, don't look at Monique Chavez. Despite the final result, she had 16 digs and two assists.
St. Pius X's win bumped their record up to 18-3. As for Valencia, they moved to 15-6 with that loss, which also ended their four-match winning streak.
St. Pius X wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Sandia Prep on the 4th. As for Valencia, they will welcome Highland at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
