Baseball Game Preview: North Delta Green Wave vs. Starkville Academy Volunteers

The North Delta Green Wave will square off against the Starkville Academy Volunteers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. North Delta is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.

North Delta took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Pillow Academy, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. North Delta skirted past Pillow Academy 7-6.

North Delta let Herron Williams and Owens Johnson run wild. Williams got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two doubles and two RBI, while Johnson scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Johnson is becoming a predictor of North Delta's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-3 when he doesn't).

Meanwhile, Starkville Academy beat Tupelo Christian Prep 5-1 two weeks ago.

The win got Starkville Academy back to even at 1-1. As for North Delta, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

North Delta skirted past Starkville Academy 4-2 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Does North Delta have another victory up their sleeve, or will Starkville Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
