Basketball Recap: Victory Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Victory Christian Academy came up into this matchup off a tough 24-point loss last Monday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Olympian Eagles by a score of 57-55 on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 213th, while the Eagles are ranked 52nd).

Despite the loss, Victory Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Isaiah Owens, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds. Those 14 boards gave Owens a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Angel Ochoa, who posted 14 points.

Even though they lost, Victory Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Olympian only pulled down five offensive boards.

Olympian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jordan Walker, who went 5 of 9 en route to 14 points and four steals. With that strong performance, Walker is now averaging an impressive 2 steals per game. Tristan Anderson was another key player, putting up 13 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Victory Christian Academy now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Olympian, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-2.

Victory Christian Academy has already played their next match, a 65-51 defeat against Bonita Vista on the 31st. As for Olympian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 49-40 win against Mater Dei Catholic on the 31st.
