Basketball Recap: Wiggins Tigers vs. Strasburg Indians
Wiggins entered their matchup against Strasburg on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Wiggins Tigers fell 48-35 to the Strasburg Indians. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2020.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kennedy Kerr, who posted 15 points and seven steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kellie Vicchrilli, who earned six points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals.
Strasburg was led to victory by Taryn LaForce and Peighton Marrero. LaForce dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards, while Marrero almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine steals. LaForce is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Hannah Damron was another key player, putting up eight points and three steals.
Wiggins' defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-4. As for Strasburg, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 6-2.
Wiggins has already played their next contest (against Windsor Charter Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Strasburg wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 67-11 victory against Woodland Park on the 15th.
