Basketball Preview: Burlington Wildcats vs. Wellsville Eagles
The Burlington Wildcats's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Wellsville Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Kansas (Burlington is ranked 99th, while the Eagles are ranked 78th).
Last Tuesday, Burlington was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 43-42 to the Bulldogs.
Meanwhile, Wellsville put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Monday. They breezed by Santa Fe Trail on the road to the tune of 68-38. 68 seems to be a good number for Wellsville as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Burlington's defeat ended a 12-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 10-4. As for Wellsville, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-4.
Burlington came up short against the Eagles in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 46-40. Can Burlington avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
