Baseball Game Preview: J.F. Webb Warriors vs. South Granville Vikings

J.F. Webb is 1-9 against South Granville since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The J.F. Webb Warriors will take on the South Granville Vikings at 6:00 p.m. J.F. Webb has given up an average of 13.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

J.F. Webb managed to slip by Franklinton the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. J.F. Webb came up short against Franklinton on Wednesday, falling 19-1. The loss leaves the Warriors still looking for their first win of the season.

South Granville never got on the board in their matchup on Monday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against J.F. Webb last Tuesday. They blew past the Warriors 13-0. The win was some much needed relief for the Vikings as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Cooper Wilkins made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero hits, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Greyson Vacher, who scored two runs and stole Four bases. while going 2-for-3. Evan Olson-Thornburg was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

South Granville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

J.F. Webb's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for South Granville, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-5.

J.F. Webb suffered a grim 13-0 defeat to South Granville in their previous meeting on Tuesday. Can J.F. Webb avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
