Basketball Recap: Sumter Gamecocks vs. Spring Valley Vikings
Sumter was the 66-38 winner over Spring Valley when they last played one another back in February of 2020, but their luck changed this time around. The Sumter Gamecocks were dealt an 86-43 defeat at the hands of the Spring Valley Vikings on Friday. The Gamecocks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Spring Valley got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Lauren Crosland out in front who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 boards. That's the most boards Crosland has posted since back in January of 2024. Mariana Moody was another key player, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten boards.
Sumter's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-4. As for Spring Valley, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.
When Sumter and Spring Valley next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Sumter will try to stop Lugoff-Elgin's four-game winning streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Similarly, Spring Valley will try to stop Blythewood's five-game winning streak when the meet at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
