Soccer Game Preview: Newark Charter School vs. Padua Academy

The Newark Charter School Patriots will face off against Padua Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Newark Charter School barely beat Conrad Science the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Patriots' defense stepped up to hand the Red Wolves a 7-0 shutout on Tuesday. Considering Newark Charter School have won seven games by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Padua Academy faced Middletown in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. Padua Academy walked away with a 2-0 win over Middletown. The game was the first time Padua Academy has beaten Middletown on their pitch since May 30, 2018.

Newark Charter School has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 29 goals over those five matchups. As for Padua Academy, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-4-1.
