Basketball Recap: East Central HomeSchool Takes a Loss

East Central HomeSchool suffered their biggest defeat since January 29, 2024 on Friday. They were beaten by the Evangel Christian Lightning 95-66. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (63), the Patriots still had to take the loss.

East Central HomeSchool's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Knox Cooper, who posted ten points in addition to five assists and five boards. Cooper is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last five games he's played. Greyson Boyd was another key player, putting up 20 points and five rebounds.

Evangel Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Sawyer Blackman out in front who went 8 for 11 on his way to 18 points and seven boards. Those 18 points gave Blackman a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hudson Walker, who had 11 points and five steals.

East Central HomeSchool's defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Evangel Christian, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 20-4.

Coming up, East Central HomeSchool will welcome Tuscaloosa Home Educators at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Evangel Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
