Softball Game Preview: White Oak Vikings vs. Richlands Wildcats

White Oak hasn't had much luck against Richlands recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Vikings will challenge the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. White Oak is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.

On Thursday, White Oak didn't have quite enough to beat Richlands and fell 2-1. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Richlands' part, Makenzie Goin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 15 Ks. Goin has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Richlands' win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jordan Meece, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave Meece a new career-high.

Richlands hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as White Oak struck out 14 times.

Richlands has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for White Oak, they now have a losing record of 11-12.
