It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Penncrest ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Marple Newtown Fightin Tigers. The victory continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Fightin Tigers: they've now won three in a row.

The team relied heavily on Austin Younger, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, one double, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Andrew Luber-Solic was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one RBI.

Penncrest's record is now 11-6. As for Marple Newtown, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.

Penncrest and Marple Newtown should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. The Lions (ranked 165th) will meet Strath Haven (ranked 390th) at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Marple Newtown will take on Delaware County Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (183 vs. 459).
