Baseball Game Preview: China Spring Cougars vs. Celina Bobcats

China Spring is on a six-game streak of home wins, while Celina is on a six-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Cougars will host the Bobcats at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Thursday, China Spring made easy work of Lorena and carried off a 15-1 victory.

Jacob Lessman was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Lessman was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, China Spring let Jack Kennedy and Dayvin Bell run wild. Kennedy went 2-for-4 with one home run and five RBI, while Bell went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple. Those two doubles gave Bell a new career-high. Hayes Hering was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

China Spring was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .474. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Celina never let their opponents score on Friday. They blew past Sanger 6-0.

China Spring's win bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Celina, their victory bumped their record up to 17-8-2.

China Spring came out on top in a nail-biter against Celina in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, sneaking past 7-5. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Bobcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
