Softball Game Preview: Midland Timberwolves vs. Dwight Trojans

Midland is 0-8 against Dwight since April of 2022 but things could change on Tuesday. The Timberwolves will host the Trojans at 4:30 p.m. Midland will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

On Saturday, Midland got the win against Earlville by a conclusive 10-2.

Adalynn Stickel (2027) was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs.

In other batting news, Midland got a massive performance out of Maggie Dorsey (2027), who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Emma Frank (2026), who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Midland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Dwight's offense. They came up short against Seneca on Thursday, falling 10-0.

Dwight's loss dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Midland, their victory bumped their record up to 10-11.

Midland couldn't quite get it done against Dwight when the teams last played back in May of 2025 as they fell 9-6. Can the Timberwolves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
