Football Recap: Esparto Takes a Loss

Esparto played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Mesa Verde Mavericks, falling 53-14. The Spartans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-6.

Although Esparto took the loss, they still got scores from Andrew Stenholm and Ethan Guillen.

It was another big night for Cesar Granados, who rushed for 125 yards and a pair of touchdowns for Mesa Verde. Granados showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 55 yards.

Esparto is on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4. As for Mesa Verde, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Esparto has already played their next matchup, a 49-6 loss against Rio Vista on the 3rd. As for Mesa Verde, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 42-8 defeat against Woodland Christian on the 3rd.
