Sycamore gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the DeKalb Barbs 2-1. The victory continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Barbs: they've now won three in a row.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Sycamore who won the one that mattered. The final score came out to 25-17, 21-25, 26-24.

DeKalb's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

After both having extra time off, Sycamore and Genoa-Kingston will shake off the rust and duke it out at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for DeKalb, they will venture away from home to take on Kaneland at 5:00 p.m. on September 4.
