Baseball Game Preview: Old Forge Blue Devils vs. Mid Valley Spartans

The Old Forge Blue Devils will head out to challenge the Mid Valley Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Old Forge is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games.

On Tuesday, Old Forge needed a bit of extra time to put away Riverside. They won by a run and slipped past the Vikings 3-2.

The team relied heavily on Frank Pero, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Mid Valley was a bit more limited in their game on Thursday. They lost 8-2 to Scranton. The Spartans' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Mid Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lorenzo Hernandez, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Old Forge's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games. As for Mid Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 10-3.

Old Forge might still be hurting after the 7-1 defeat they got from Mid Valley in their previous meeting on April 3rd. Can the Blue Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
