Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Millbrook). They pulled ahead with a 70-69 photo finish over the Skyline Hawks on Monday. With that victory, the Pioneers brought their scoring average up to 51.4 points per game.

Leading Millbrook to victory were Jaliah Jackson and Jane Moreland. Jackson dropped a double-double on 29 points and 12 rebounds, while Moreland dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Jackson has become a key player for Millbrook: the team is 4-1 when she posts at least ten rebounds, but 2-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Maia Parks, who posted six points and nine rebounds.

Millbrook smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Millbrook's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Skyline, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-2.

Millbrook and Skyline should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. Millbrook (ranked 125th) will meet Liberty (ranked 317th) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Skyline (ranked 45th) will meet Fauquier (ranked 282nd) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
