Softball Recap: Archbishop Spalding Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Archbishop Spalding, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the John Carroll Patriots on Wednesday, sneaking past 3-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 1-0 on April 2nd.

Cessi Prince spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Emily Ford was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Taylor Codi was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Archbishop Spalding's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for John Carroll, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.
