Football Game Preview: Rodriguez Mustangs vs. Sacramento Dragons

The Rodriguez Mustangs will head out to square off against the Sacramento Dragons at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Rodriguez is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

On Friday, Rodriguez lost to Vacaville at home by a 42-25 margin. While the Mustangs had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Bulldogs 6-0.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 14-14 at halftime, Sacramento was not quite Pioneer's equal in the second half on Friday. They fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 42-40. While the Dragons had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Patriots 20-14.

Rodriguez will have to contain Cordell Radcliffe as he made an impact in Sacramento's last game. He rushed for 178 yards and three touchdowns, and also picked up 35 receiving yards. Radcliffe showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 53 yards. Damarie Taylor was another key player, picking up 98 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Sacramento's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Rodriguez, the defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 2-4.

Rodriguez came out on top in a nail-biter against Sacramento in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, sneaking past 15-13. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
